COMPLETE RESULTS
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - NC State tallied a 195.475 to win the 2007 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship on Friday at University of Maryland’s Comcast Center; this is the Wolfpack’s third EAGL team title. West Virginia followed closely with a 195.300 followed by North Carolina taking third with a 194.925. Pittsburgh was fourth (194.150), George Washington finished fifth (192.775), Rutgers was sixth (192.600), New Hampshire placed seventh (191.525) and Maryland finished in eighth place (191.175).
NC State was led by junior Leigha Hancock (Suffield, Conn.) who scored a 39.100 for third place in the all-around; she also won the balance beam with a 9.900 score. NC State previously won back-to-back team titles in 2000 and 1999.
North Carolina senior Christine Robella (Alexandria, Va.) won the all-around title with a 39.350. Robella was named to the 2007 first team All-EAGL on the vault, floor exercise and the all-around.
EAGL Gymnast of the Year and Outstanding Senior Gymnast, West Virginia senior Janae Cox (Otisco, Ind.), placed second in the all-around with a 39.325 score.
Individual event champions include Pittsburgh freshman Dani Bryan on the vault (9.90), Pittsburgh senior Andrea Arlotta on the uneven bars (9.90), NC State junior Leigha Hancock on the balance beam (9.90) and North Carolina senior Christine Robella on the floor exercise (9.925).
NC State head coach Mark Stevenson was named the 2007 EAGL Coach of the Year; he received this honor last year and in 1998.
